Lori Karamanlian

Abstract Artist

Lori Karamanlian (1997) is a self-taught abstract artist whose work explores the emotional and spiritual layers of the human experience. With a background in music production, she approaches painting much like composing a piece of music.

Her primary medium are alcohol inks, which are dye-based highly saturated pigments suspended in isopropyl alcohol. While alcohol inks are traditionally used on smaller surfaces, Lori has adapted her technique to larger-scale works on canvas.

In addition to her fine art pieces, Lori also creates functional artworks, including coasters. These smaller pieces allow her to bring art into everyday life while maintaining the same care and intention as her larger works.

Her work has been exhibited in major international art fairs, including New York, Miami, Vienna, with highlights such as being featured as a spotlight artist at Red Dot Miami.

Inspired by a lifelong fascination with portals, mazes and escape rooms, Lori’s work explores the magic found in these gateways – spaces full of possibility, transformation and discovery.

Lori’s paintings embody the balance between light and shadow, presence and mystery, while capturing the expansive nature of both the universe and the human spirit. She creates portals that honor the hidden worlds within us all. Spaces where healing, intuition and self-discovery emerge.

This inward journey is closely tied to Lori’s connection to nature, which continually fuels her creative process. She finds inspiration in the solitude of mountain trails and the quiet rhythm of swimming. Water, in particular, is her element – reflecting her own sense of calm and emotional depth.

Lori’s creative philosophy is rooted in the belief, that every individual carries a purpose, a gift meant to be expressed. This purpose is not simply a goal or achievement but a profound expression of one’s true self, a light that can illuminate both personal and collective paths.

Through her work, she hopes to inspire others to embrace their authentic selves and to step boldly into the journey of meaningful expression.
